Lion dance is generally performed during the Chinese New year. It is performed to scare away the evil spirits and bring in good charm for the audience and people. Some of the other dance routines of the lion dance may include eating oranges and performing acrobatic stunts as per the music played in the background. There are two schools of lion dance. One is Fut san which is old school and uses lot of kung fu stances. Other school is hok san which is less traditional and uses more relaxed stances and movements.
